Denim de Nimes

Today, we did a little sightseeing as we picked up provisions for our Tour spectating to begin tomorrow. In addition to buying a few lawn chairs, napkins, actual silverware and reusable wine glasses and plates, we also grabbed a few cans of Leffe blonde and a bottle of the local rosé. We'll buy that actual food tomorrow since we have no way of keeping it cool (makes you wonder how we plan to do that with the beer and wine, doesn't it?).

Our sightseeing was centered on Nimes and Arles today, with a stop at an old village on the top of some cliff dating back to Louis the 14th. We saw some denim, supposedly a creation originating in Nimes, two Roman arenas (one dating back to 10 A.D.) and the local stomping ground of Vincent van Gogh (including the hospital where he was interned after cutting off his ear). What we didn't expect to see were three accordionists (Motion Trio) doing a sound check for their evening concert and selling shirts that said, "Accordions can kill."

Tomorrow we'll be up early to head to our spot along the Tour. Ciao until then.
